Can You Hide One Facebook Page Review?

Meta's documented Page controls do not show a setting to hide just one review. You can report a Recommendation if it violates Meta's Community Standards, or turn Recommendations off for the entire Page. Turning the feature off also removes the Page's rating and reviews from the Page.
Meta often calls these entries Recommendations, although the tab and settings may still use the word Reviews. If one critical review is hurting your Page, first check whether it is public, report it only if it breaks a rule, and respond to valid feedback instead of trying to erase it.

Can you hide one Facebook Page review?
Meta's current help pages document reporting an eligible Recommendation and turning the whole Recommendations feature off, not a control to hide one review while leaving the others visible. A negative opinion by itself is not a reason Meta says it will remove a review.
| What you want to do | Documented option | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Remove one rule-breaking Recommendation | Report the Recommendation for review | Meta reviews it and may remove it if it violates standards |
| Hide all recommendations from the Page | Turn Recommendations off in Page settings | The Page's rating and reviews are removed from the Page |
| Handle a valid complaint | Respond through the Page or Meta Business Suite | The review stays subject to its audience and Meta's rules |
That distinction matters. Reporting asks Meta to assess a specific post against its rules; switching off Recommendations changes visibility for the whole Page. Neither option is a promise that a critical review will be removed.
Meta's settings may use slightly different labels over time. Check the live instructions for turning Page Recommendations on or off before changing the setting.
When can you report a Recommendation?
Report a Recommendation when you believe it violates Meta's Community Standards, not simply because you disagree with it. Meta says it reviews reports and may remove Recommendations that break its standards. A rating that contains only stars cannot be reported through the Recommendation reporting flow.
The current Help Center steps are:
- Open the business Page and go to its Reviews section.
- Choose See all next to Recent reviews.
- Open the options menu on the Recommendation you want reviewed.
- Select Report post and follow the on-screen prompts.
Meta does not guarantee removal just because a business reports a review. It says it may remove content that violates its rules after review. Keep a copy of the text and the Page link for your records, and do not post a reviewer's private details in a public reply.
See Meta's official guide to reporting a Recommendation or review for current steps and reporting limits.
What happens if you turn Recommendations off?
Turning Recommendations off affects the whole Page, not one selected review. Meta says the setting disables Recommendations and removes the Page's rating and reviews from the Page.
The setting is under Page settings. Meta's current directions say to switch into the Page, open Settings and privacy, choose Settings, go to Page and tagging, then toggle Allow others to view and leave reviews on your Page? off.
Think through the trade-off before changing it. Turning off the feature also hides favorable public reviews and the rating, so it is a broad reputation choice rather than a targeted fix for one complaint.
Why might a review disappear or counts differ?
A review can be visible to one audience and not another. Meta says the person who posts a Recommendation can choose its audience. Only public Recommendations are included in the Page's overall rating, while custom-audience reviews may appear in some viewers' counts and not others.
- The author changed the audience. A Recommendation may no longer be public, so other viewers may not see it.
- Meta removed it. Meta says it removes reviews that violate its spam policies or Community Standards.
- The Page has not enabled Recommendations. Only Pages with Recommendations turned on may show a rating.
- The Page has too few reviews for a rating. Meta says a Page may not show a rating if it has fewer than five reviews.
Meta's guide to Page review counts and recommendation scores explains how public and custom-audience Recommendations affect what different people see.
What should you do with a valid negative review?
Answer the issue, not the rating. A calm response shows other readers that the business takes feedback seriously, even when the original reviewer does not change their post.
- Acknowledge the experience without arguing about the reviewer's motives.
- Be specific about what you can check or fix, and avoid sharing order details or personal information in public.
- Offer a private support route for information that should not be posted publicly.
- Follow through on the promised next step, then let the customer decide whether to update their review.

Should you buy or create Page reviews?
No. Do not buy fabricated reviews or write recommendations for people who have not shared a real customer experience. Meta's guidance says recommendations should be based on personal experience and says people who help manage a Page should not recommend that business.
Meta also says it does not verify that someone purchased a product or used a service before leaving a Page review. That is not permission to invent a customer experience. Meta removes reviews that violate its spam policies, and artificial reviews can mislead prospective customers as well as distort the Page's reputation.
Trust rule: Ask real customers for honest feedback. Do not script a positive opinion, impersonate a customer, or pay for a review that claims an experience that did not happen.
For the platform's wording, read Meta's guidance for recommending a business.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Page admin delete one Facebook review?
Meta's documented controls do not show an admin option to delete one review. You can report an eligible Recommendation for a standards review, or turn off Recommendations for the entire Page.
Can I report a review just because it is negative?
No. Meta says Recommendations may be reported when they violate Community Standards. A negative opinion alone is not a stated basis for removal.
Can I report a star-only rating?
Meta says Recommendations that contain only a star rating cannot be reported through its Recommendation reporting flow.
Does turning off Recommendations delete every review?
Meta says turning the feature off removes the rating and reviews from the Page. It is a Page-wide setting, not a way to hide one entry.
Why does my review count differ from another person's?
Reviewers can choose an audience. Meta says custom-audience Recommendations may be visible to some people but not others, while only public Recommendations count toward the overall Page rating.
Can I leave a recommendation for my own business?
Meta says you should not recommend a business if you help manage its Page. Recommendations should be based on personal experience.
Bottom line
There is no documented one-review hide switch in Meta's current Page guidance. Report a Recommendation only when you believe it breaks a rule. Turning Recommendations off removes the Page's rating and reviews as a whole, so respond to valid criticism instead of trying to erase it.
Before you report a post, check Meta's official reporting guide and confirm that the issue is a policy violation.
